CAPTURING CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS: MHCC
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) holds regular conferences and meetings to address mental health issues and help strengthen the Canadian mental health system. Ascribe has had the opportunity to audit and report on many of these events.
The largest by far was Together Against Stigma: a three-day international conference that brought together 670 delegates from 29 countries to share best practices for reducing stigma toward people with mental illness. The conference agenda included presentations, panels and workshops — 115 concurrent sessions across the three days, all covered by our team of 10 writers. Following the event we produced a 100+ page event report, which MHCC published as a book.
Our team also captured the inaugural meeting of the International Knowledge Exchange Network for Mental Health in St, John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, a two-day event attended by delegates from seven countries, and prepared a 30-page report summarizing its presentations and group discussions.
More recently, Ascribe supported the MHCC Youth Council’s development of a youth-friendly version of Canada’s mental health strategy, covered a first-of-its kind national conference on policing and mental health in Toronto, and recorded the key findings of a two-day Emerging Adults conference looking at the need for system change in supporting Canadians transitioning between youth and adult mental health services.
