CAPTURING THE SPIRIT OF A LIVING LAND: PARKS CANADA VIDEO
Kluane National Park and Reserve is a 22,000 square-kilometre expanse of protected land in the Yukon Territory and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. To accompany the opening of a new visitors centre, Parks Canada commissioned a video that would capture the unique, breathtaking character of the site, which the Southern Tutchone people call a ‘living land’. Ascribe was pleased to be invited by a video production partner to participate in the project. A member of our writing team spent a week in Haines Junction with Parks Canada officials and representatives of two local First Nations with deep historic ties to the land. The resulting video is a spectacular high-definition tour of Kluane through the seasons, touching on its wildlife, its widely varied landscape (from tranquil river valleys to imposing mountain ranges and massive icefields), and its people — telling the story of the park through their voices.
