National Research Council

The National Research Council (NRC) serves as a platform for Canadian innovation, giving companies and researchers access to the facilities, equipment and expertise they need to drive discovery and solve some of the biggest challenges of our age. Communicating the value of its complex, technical work demands the ability to translate scientific, economic and political concepts into clear, simple stories that connect with everyday Canadian life.

How we brought clarity

The NRC was called on to play an active role in Canada’s pandemic response in spring 2020 — requiring on-the-fly adjustments to its 2019–20 annual report, which was already under development. Our team worked closely with the NRC to retool the established storytelling framework and gather fresh content in rapid time. By staying clear on the overall strategic intent of the report, we helped the NRC weave its COVID-19 activities into the narrative while preserving other (but still important) messaging from the year.
